Code of Ethics

My Code of Ethics (Short and Sweet Version)

So, I just wanted to share a little bit about what I stand for as a creator and artist. I’m all about keeping things real, honest, and entertaining. Here’s what I promise:

  • I’m a Black American and therefore, it will be on display! My content often reflects my experiences and perspectives, but everyone is welcome to enjoy and learn.
  • I love using my voice to spark conversations and inspire change, so if I don’t enjoy it or think it’s important, it’s not being published.
  • I believe in edutainment! Engagement should be fun and thought-provoking, so I try to make my content both informative and entertaining.
  • Honesty is key. I only promote things I truly believe in.
  • I’m always upfront about sponsorships. It’s not only to keep things honest, it’s the law.
  • AI is only used for editing, never to create original or even fake content.
  • I strive for accuracy, but like the cliche, I’m only human. If I make a mistake, I’ll own up to it and fix it ASAP.
  • Respect is everything. Let’s keep our conversations constructive and inclusive.
  • This code of ethics is a work in progress, so it might change to reflect my current line of thinking.

Thanks for following me and making me a part of your life!

This is the short and sweet version. If you need more details about what I said, look at the “Through Version”.

My Creator’s Code of Ethics (The Through Version)

As a Black content creator focused on current events, technology, and social justice, I believe in the power of truth and authenticity. I strive to create content that is informative, engaging, and thought-provoking, while always upholding the highest ethical standards. My creative spirit is at the heart of everything I do, and I’m driven to make learning and critical thinking entertaining… so much, I decided to put it in writing.

Here’s what I stand for:

  • The M.O.: I am a creator primarily. My passion for expressing myself and connecting with others through my work drives every decision I make.
  • Edutainment: As a multimedia artist/writer, I believe in the power of entertainment to spark curiosity and inspire action. I strive to make my content not only informative but also engaging and enjoyable.
  • Honesty: I will only promote products or services that I genuinely believe in and that align with my values. While I prefer not to promote anything, it might be needed to help me make more time to create.
  • Transparency: I will clearly disclose any sponsorships, paid promotions, or affiliations. It’s required by the channels I promote to do so, but I rather also let you know here.
  • Editorial Independence: While I welcome collaborations with sponsors, my content remains free from any external influence. My opinions and views are mine. Sponsors understand and agree that they will not screen content before it is published or released.
  • Accuracy: I will make every effort to ensure the information I present is accurate and factual. I do research and will provide sources when I do. If I make a mistake, I will correct it promptly and transparently. I don’t purposely pass misinformation and will take down any thing that is presented as such.
  • Artificial Intelligence: My perspective on Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is context-dependent. While I recognize its value in certain tasks, such as proofreading and grammar correction, I refrain from relying exclusively on it. I use it merely to enhance my work rather than serving as the primary foundation.
  • Graphic Design/Digital Art Work: I am an experienced graphic designer, so all my work is my own unless it’s created by other people, who I will credit. I use Affinity Suite products and Pixlr to create work when I can.
  • Accountability: I hold myself accountable for the content I create and its potential impact. I am committed to learning and growing from my experiences.
  • Audience Awareness: While my content is generally geared towards mature audiences, I understand that viewers of all ages may access it. I encourage younger viewers to engage with my content critically and discuss any questions or concerns they may have with a trusted adult. While we’re at it…
  • My use of language: While I generally avoid offensive language in my content (and my personal life), I may use it sparingly and intentionally for creative or impactful purposes.
  • Cultural Relevance: As a Black creator, my content is often created with a Black audience in mind. However, I believe in the power of shared experiences and welcome people of all ethnicities to engage with my work.
  • Regarding Engagement with My Content: Please note that any use of my content, including but not limited to the creation of memes or sharing on external platforms, should be done with respect for my original work and intentions. While I appreciate engagement with my content, I cannot be held responsible for any interpretations or representations of my work that occur outside of my official channels.

To avoid potential copyright issues and takedown requests, please ensure that you properly credit me as the original creator when using my content.
  • Respect: I will engage with my audience in a respectful and inclusive manner, fostering open dialogue and constructive criticism. With that being said, don’t make the mistake of being a pain or trolling for the sake of it.
  • Evolving with the Times: I recognize that ethical considerations are constantly evolving. This code of ethics is a living document that I am committed to revisiting and updating as needed to reflect the changing landscape of content creation and social responsibility.

This code of ethics guides my creative process and helps me maintain my audience’s trust. I believe that by adhering to these principles, I can create content that is both meaningful and ethical.

If you have any questions or concerns about my content (especially about using it), please contact me directly through my official website or social media channels.  Thank you for your understanding.
